Churros and Chocolate Hazelnut Sauce
Churros are such a tasty treat, a fun mix of fried dough that’s crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. They’re usually long and skinny—sometimes twisted into a fun loop—and totally irresistible! Rolled in sugar, they’re perfect for dipping in ooey-gooey chocolate sauce or any sweet dip you like, making them a go-to snack or dessert. They’re loved in Spain, Latin America, and pretty much everywhere else! Today, I decided to whip some up myself. After hunting down a bunch of recipes, I finally found a yummy one by the amazing Chef Cyril Lignac.
Ingredients:
- 150g of water
- 30g of unsalted butter
- 20g of caster sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 150g of flour
- 1 egg
- Sunflower oil for frying
- Caster sugar with cinnamon for coating
Method:
- In a saucepan, bring the water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil.
- Remove from heat and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously with a spatula until you get a smooth dough.
- Return to low heat and dry out the dough by stirring for 1 to 2 minutes, until it pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
- Add the egg, mix well until the dough is smooth and homogeneous.
- Heat the oil to 170°C (340°F).
- Fill a piping bag with a star shape nozzle.
- Pipe strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.
- Fry the churros until they are golden brown.
- Roll the churros in a mixture of caster sugar and cinnamon.
- Enjoy them warm with melted hazelnut chocolate sauce.
The Churros are so crispy and delicious, perfect with my coffee!
Bonne dégustation!
PS: For the chocolate sauce, use the chocolate of your choice, melt it with a little milk, and that’s it!
